If I had to pick a grade to repeat, I guess kindergarten would be it.
Painting at the easel, learning our letters by jumping on them hopscotch-style, playing London Bridge. Those were the days!
My son is repeating kindergarten this year, the lucky dog. By California law, children who turn six after September 1 of the school year may not enroll in first grade. They can attend “transitional kindergarten” at age 4-5 and kindergarten at age 5-6, thus starting first grade when they are on the cusp of seven.
So, having breezed through TK last year, he is back—I like to say in Kindergarten II—doing the same opening science unit as last year. Bringing home the very same worksheets I
threw away posted in my office last year.
Same dumb craft as last September.
Just kidding, this is his jellyfish:
…and I’m wondering if maaaybe he’s feeling a little less than motivated this time around?
Note the internet handle for Name. And yes, that’s a snake (vertebrate) riding the unfortunately-spelled skateboard (not an animal).
